Malla Community

Malla is another spelling for Mala. We are found mostly in Andhra Pradesh. Along with the Madigas we form the largest segment among the Dalits in the state. We have strong ethnic, cultural and linguistic links with Mahars in neighbouring Maharashtra. Our military exploits during the Kakatiya dynasty are celebrated in Telugu history and folklore.
